Meet the Founders
EJ and Mary met thirty years ago during a London semester abroad, where they instantly bonded over their love of travel, family, fashion and good time fun. Flash forward to a girls’ trip to the beach in 2019, where they discovered their shared obsession with their feelings they felt from wearing their favorite white blouse. They both realized it wasn't easy to find shirts that felt good to wear but were also flattering. At that moment, they hatched the idea for Genhappy. Now they’re using their experience in television production, marketing and multi-tasking (Mary has six kids) to create clothes designed to bring joy to women’s closets and to their lives!
Our Design Process
To make our effortless pieces, Genhappy assembled an incredible design and production team from NYC to India. Our talented designers have experience at popular resort-wear brands like Calypso St. Barth. Our production partner is a family owned factory in India which has worked with some of the biggest name brands in the industry. The entire team's commitment to sustainability and conscious production align with their values to connect and empower Genhappy women.
Bringing Positive Change through Happy Moments
The name Genhappy - Generation Happy, means a lot to us. It's about multi-generational women defined by their mindset, not an age group. They’re a circle of doers, dreamers, mothers and best friends. Genhappy is committed to bringing positive change through happy moments and gives a percentage of profits to Girls Rising whose mission is to empower and educate women and girls around the world. When every girl is free to reach her full potential our work will be done.
Our Commitment to Sustainability & Fair Wages
We produce in small batches and utilize our fabric remnants to make our jewelry bags. We are constantly striving to make progress in manufacturing and production. All of our raw materials and garment manufacturing processes are carried out respecting the need of the craft and the trade – ensuring every person down the supply chain is paid and treated fairly. We are utilizing sustainable cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative in each of our cotton garments.
